The Big REUSE-IT Garage Sale

This event will be open to community members as a way to recycle items by offering them for resale. The garage sale is a popular and long-established method of reusing clothing, household items, personal goods, crafts and miscellaneous “stuff” that could otherwise end up in the landfill.
With burgeoning interest in the well-being of our island’s ecology, this event seems a good way to emphasize the options we all have for more thoughtful decisions about what we discard. Items that are no longer useful to one owner can have their useful lives extended by being traded or sold to another owner.
The assignment of participants’ areas for the day in Minuke ‘Ole Park will be handled by Waimea Preservation Association and will serve as a fund-raiser for the two organizations.  A 12’x24’ area can be assigned for a suggested donation of $44 and a 24’x24’ area for a suggested donation of $88. Those donations will go thru WPA.  Funds raised by the participants from recycled items will be retained by them, and they will be responsible for GE tax payment.
Participants will also be responsible for providing their own tents, tables, etc. for the event and for clean-up and clearing their area at the end of the event, from 4 pm to 5:30. The Rotary Club of North Hawaii will provide event insurance, event area layout and parking management.
